Why won't my truck start?

Asked by wstaes Mar 28, 2016 at 04:42 PM about the 1996 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I installed a new transmission into my 1996 dodge dakota today. After bolting
it into place, I hooked up the battery to it. I tried to start, but the engine did not
turnover.  The only that happened was that the lights and symbols on the
dashboard lit up.

Since the starter must be removed to replace a transmission, make sure you have it connected properly.
