@ED92626 I don't have a radiator cap. Yes, the top hose gets hot. I will attempt to purge air from the system.

I'm overheating issues as well. Replaced the thermostat, both sensors, and the water pump. The fan intermittently comes on. Heat is intermittent. I'm at a loss.

Before I switch out pump the fan was not coming on and I had no circulation. I drained system. Replaced both sensors, thermostat, and pump. Refilled system, bleed system. The fan kicked on when bleeding system, but doesn't seem to kick on properly as heat rises. I'll try it with AC on. I have heat again, but it will blow hot then cool. As it cools the engine temp rises and I get the AC disabled because of engine temp error. Then the blower heat temp will rise and engine temp lowers and the error goes away. I'll post in a bit after testing with the AC on. Should the fan kick on immediately with AC on?

I ran the AC. The fan comes on for a couple seconds and shuts off. The engine also threw a code for battery voltage. It's down to 14.2 V. I let the car sit a couple hours and now the voltage is 12.4. I'm wondering if it might be a ground issue. Although I don't know how the 2 relate.

Spoke to a mechanic today and him run diagnostics on it. He believes it's a blown head gasket.

I have a few questions...A. What year is the Cruze and does it have a turbo B. Was it the head gasket and how much did that run to have fixed?

Coolant reservoir cap. Coolant not maintaining 20psi, and boiling at lower temperature thus causing pockets of steam in coolant system

@TonyMane it was the head gasket. My issue was caused by the radiator. (The one component in the cooling system that I hadn't replaced.) Once the head was pulled, I found there was slap in cylinder 2 and burn marks in cylinder 1 and 4. I ended up replacing the engine. Boy are they proud of these engines...they're not cheap. All in all, it costed me about $4100 for a low mile engine and labor to install.

@AJC01038 mine is a 2015 Cruze with the 1.4L turbo. The quote for the head gasket was about $2100. After pulling the head I had slap in cylinder 2, so I ended up replacing the engine. I have $4100 in the repair.

I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze and I replaces the hose with that stupid pressure regulator clamp on the end of it, the thermostat and the coil pack ( because it broke when I changed my spark plugs). Put new coolant in it and bleed it out. Went for a test drive, over heated twice . What is it.? The heater musty stays hot, but went semi cold once. My temp gauge spikes up and down, and or just over heats. The coolant boils in the over flow... please help
