How can I fix a very high idle  even while driving, on my
1997 dodge dakota sport, 2.5 litre engine

Check for vaccuam leaks also clean throttle if butter fly is not closing all the way due to dirty throttle will cause high idle.

Also check your cruise control cable. Mine came out of the housing and got jammed, forcing the throttle open slightly
