How long since a tune-up? Are there any applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free, if there are any. I guess you feel it more at idle? For an ignition misfire, meaning losing spark. I have used a digital multimeter to track it down, on some vehicles. Low voltage setting, touch the spark plug wire, engine running engine running, You don't penetrate the insulation and you don't take the spark plug wire loose, it's bleed through voltage, your reading, if you want to word it that way. What your looking for is most readings are close to the same on each plug wire. I've some readings of .5 or .6 volts, say you have maybe one reading that is bouncing off zero, that is where you start testing, on that cylinder or wiring circuit. I can't say this will work on all makes and models, but, it's a cheap test and non-intrusive.
