Stereo issue - No sound when car is running

Asked by Ryan Dec 07, 2014 at 08:33 AM about the 2013 Toyota Corolla LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey guys, I have a 2013 corolla LE. There is an issue with the stereo. Everything
works fine until the car is started. After about 3 - 5 mins of the car running the stereo
makes a static noise and slowly decreases in volume until there is no sound. This
happens with all inputs (CD, Bluetooth, Radio or aux) After restarting the car it will run
for like 3 - 5 mins again then do the same thing. The head unit and all speakers are
factory. Ive never seen anything like this. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Warranty, Warranty .... it sounds as though it's inside the radio it self ... if that's the case than a replacement is needed

Sounds like a short in the stereo. You have two power wires feeding the back of the stereo unit. One is the constant power line which keeps your clock or internals of the stereo running and the other wire is activated by turning the ignition and you get music. I'd guess a capacitor is going out in the stereo unit. :)
