Inertia switch

Asked by Mar 05, 2017 at 08:47 PM about the 2004 Ford Ranger 2 Dr XLT Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Why did the connector to
the inertia switch melt? An
amp meter reads 6.8 amps
when installed in place of
switch. Is this normal amp
draw?

Sounds about right for fuel pump running amps. The melting plug for the switch is fairly common, check with the dealer for a TSB on the plug.
