I won't say it won't work, but you're talking about switching to a different engine size across different car makes and off by a few years. That means everything is going to be different - computer modules, sensors, wiring harnesses, mounts, transmissions/controls. This would be a difficult swap if all you're trying to do is keep an older car on the road.

I would not recommend it. The electrical modifications that would need to be made to make everything "talk" would be extensive and expensive.
