I need help diagnosing an issue I haven't seen before.

Asked by Senlo Feb 22, 2016 at 10:08 PM about the 1999 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got a 99 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with the V-8. Initially I thought the AC was
not working as it only blew hot air. I live in AZ ac is nice to have. I recently
took a trip north to MT and noticed something odd. While travelling the
colder the air outside got the cold the air the hvac system blew. it would get
cool but not cold. On the way back as the temperature got warmer so did
the air blowing out. I have not see this before any suggestions as to where
I should start looking?

basic a/c service...vacuum, install a new filter/dryer and charge to the required pressure...perhaps the filter/dryer is degrading to a "popcorn" desiccant cannot take on water...that's it's whole purpose for being there~ basic service and you'll be good to go on this~
