HOW DO YOU CHECK FOR AIR POCKETS IN COOLING SYSTEM?

I SEEN ON HERE WHERE ONE OF THE ANSWER WAS TO CHECK FOR AIR POCKETS IN THE COOLING SYSTEM. HOW DO YOU DO THAT?

Good indication is if only one heater hose is getting hot. To bleed the air out , have the radiator cap off, and run the engine up to operating temp. when the thermostat opens you will see the coolant level drop, keep adding fluid as necessary until full. At first coolant may spuew out of the radiator, but that is just air being pushed out of the system. Put the radiator cap on once full while the engine is running.

I should mention that you should have the heater control set on hot, in-case there is a heater valve in the heater hose.
