LS oil pressure slow to build

Asked by Kendo679 Jun 27, 2019 at 01:24 PM about the 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche LTZ Black Diamond Edition 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've noticed after doing a DOD delete that my
oil pressure gauge takes about 3 seconds to
swing up to normal. I also heard the lifters
knocking this morning while the pressure was
building. After that it runs fine. When I shut
the engine off and restart the gage still
swings slow but no noise when warm.

I didn't replace the oil pump, just had to
loosen the bolts and pry it a bit to swap out
the chain tensioner.

I never noticed anything like this before. Oil
and filter are new as well.

5w30 dexos... Yeah I opted not to bother it because I wasn't having any issue before. It still holds around 40lbs when driving.

Yes it was the same before the delete... It's got 130k on it. I also did a VVT delete and took note of the interesting wear pattern on #2 cam journal and bearing where the oil groove was on the VVT cam... The new cam had a solid journal that now rides on the unworn middle 1/3rd of the cam bearing.
