Van breaks while I'm driving it..

Asked by Cristinah721 Aug 21, 2016 at 11:33 AM about the 1999 Dodge Caravan SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 99 Dodge Gran Caravan. The issue I'm
having is, when I'm driving it seems like it breaks or
jumps (we go foward as if I was breaking). Also it
now goes to the left if I let go of the steering wheel.
I'm not sure if this is the same problem with the
breaking/jumping issue. If I can please get some
help, I am clueless of what it could be.

You most likely have a brake hanging up. It may or may not be the cause of your steering going to the left, or that may be a separate issue. (alignment, tie rod, etc.) Needless to say, you have a serious safety issue and need to get it in asap for brake service. Don't duck the problem, it will only get worse. Take it for a brake job and let them inspect it for pads and determine what if anything has been causing it to hang up.
