13 Jeep Wrangler dies, 5 min restart

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello!  I have had my 2013 Jeep Wrangler back to
the dealership multiple times and they have no idea
what's going on.  Hoping someone may help.  This
vehicle randomly dies (engine cuts off, coasts to a
stop) - typically after a turn, and I think it may have
to do with being in a higher gear than speed
(perhaps not downshifting far enough?) and upon
applying gas out of the turn it just shuts down.
Again, doesn't happen all the time.  It happened 1-3
times a week shortly after I bought it, dealership
kept it and couldn't reproduce the issue, and after
their 2nd attempt it seemed to stop.  Then, in the
past week it's happened again twice.

Thanks for your thoughts!

the battery ain't cinched down, connections are this-and-that~ and possibly buggered with blue corrosion~ if you can assure me that the battery is newer then 10 years old, post tops have been wirebrushed clean and the attachment to the block from the black cable is in place...I will have a shot at your problem...baby needs bottle~ (in a matter of speaking)~

I neglected to mention - after the shut down, the engine will not restart immediately. It will only restart after a 5 minute "cool down", which I assume is built into programming.

as you already know...materials will contract when cooled off~ so I assert that your battery is weak and there ain't enough AMPS...the reason the FATness of the cable...we need amps for your starter...if the path from the battery is clobbered with corrosion the electricity has a tough time gettin' through~ I paint since the diagnosis of MS~ (and taken out of the workforce)~

three years is enough time for corrosion to accumulate~ this whole business of NOT starting...the computer would NEVER do that..is NOT in control of these high-amps~ only a rugged set of contacts can do that~ ...pushbutton starting is of great concern, in my opinion~ the business of a cigarette break or you can't start seems wrong~

Sounds more like the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator or something in the gas tank being sucked onto the sock filter shutting down vehicle and after setting for awhile what ever it is releases it self from filter then get sucked back onto filter when vehicle is running again. Just a theory

Check the coil. I had 2 cars that would just stop and die and then have to cool down and then they would start. Sometimes coils don't come up in codes and dealerships overlook easy fixes until they get done soaking you good. Had to have a main seal oil leak fixed by a dealership in my 76 Dodge Van. It only took them TWELVE times to do it. So much for dealerships.

Thanks for all the ideas! If I get it fixed I'll let you know.
