Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My (2000) Dodge Neon is getting old (so am I!). There is a red warning light the size of an eraser on a lead pencil which keep s going on. I've lost the manual and cannot find the meaning online. Help please.

If it is located above the temperature gauge, round shape, is the ABS Warning light, a problem in the brake system has been detected. There is manual online and you can refer to it for information, copy and Google this address: 2000 Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth Neon Factory Service Manual - ertyu.org. Hope this helps you, by the way, WE may be getting old, but not useless!

The ABS warning light has gone on before. It is orange/amber and reads ABS with a LOGO. This is simply a red circle the size of a pencil eraser tip over and to the right of the fuel gauge and I am mystified...

Like I said, google the address above, you will be able to read the entire owner's manual, all the information about the cluster's icons is in there.

I came, I saw, I conked out. It is not on the page you supplied. It's just a tiny circular red light with no letters appearing above and to the right of the gas gauge.

Well, I called a friend, he is a mechanic at the local Chrysler dealership, according to him this red dot is the security anti-theft mechanism activated, is working. When did you first notice the red dot light? He says that some times, the system malfunctions and blocks the car from starting. You don't mention having that problem, he says to try this: Put one key in the ignition, turn to on but do not crank it, the red light should go out in 15-20 seconds; if it stays on do the same using a second key if you have one. And with this, we have to say "The Die Is Cast" and you will cross your Rubicon river.

You have a lot of gaul to make that statement, but since Caesar crossed the Rubicon river to enter into the province of Gaul, I much appreciate your help! Thanks!!!

Sentry key safety mechanism that detects the chip in the key. I'm gonna try the 15 to 20 second trick though because I'm having this same problem and didn't know about it until now

So my car is doing the same thing. But I cant imagine that the light is the security mechanism sense it's coming on after driving it for 30 minutes or so
