dodge stalls out when speed sensor is plugged in

Asked by nicky503 Aug 05, 2016 at 01:32 AM about the 2000 Dodge Neon ES Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 dodge neon. The speedometer
does not work and I can not pass deq. The
code stated the speed sensor needed to be
replaced. I replaced the sensor and GET
THIS. When the speed sensor is plugged in
the car will start but then seconds later stall
out and die (speedometer still not working)
but when its taken out the car runs fine. Any
Ideas or tricks I can do to get it to pass deq?
Like erase the code and take it in? Help!

First u can't erase codes and take it for smog. Systen has to have all sensors scanned and cleared by itself. Sounds like u might've gotten the wrong sensor or sensor circuit is shorted
