Why did my reverse not work any longer?

We checked and that part is fine. It just locked me out of reverse...

If it were me, I would concentrate on that area since it's either the shifter or the linkage. Unless the trans has been giving you some kind of indication before you lost reverse then I seriously doubt it's the trans itself.

Yes. Everything was working great. I drove to store. Parked. Was in for ten minutes. Went to start car and back out and I was locked out of reverse. Maybe reverse takes fluid to help it not get stuck?

Nope ... from what I see there is a mechanism outside the trans that pulls that linkage out. I don't know where you live but in some snowy area's that linkage may have hit something ... donno, just my guess . But as I said earlier ... I seriously doubt there's anything wrong with your transmission

My reverse in my 2003 neon didn't work but all other gears took it to transmedic in troutdale oregon it sat there for two weeks i went and got it turned out to be a super easy fix by myself under the battery take out the battery holding bracket and right under it are two cables mine wete just sitying on the post woth no bushings at all i bought a pkg at orielys for 18.99 kinda tricky getting them on right but pretty simole just make sure the cable on the left post is pulled all the way forward

My car won't go backwards in reverse , but it drives excellent in forward , what's the reason for thiis?
