Key Fob not working after reassembly.

Dropped my key fob earlier and it broke apart sending the battery flying
somewhere. I went and replaced the battery and holding the fob together it
works just fine, but the moment I close the plastic casing back around the
key it doesnt work anymore. It will literally work just fine up until I click the
plastic closed and then it wont work at all. Anyone have any ideas as to
what could be causing the plastic to stop it from working?

the metal contacts are no longer engaged on top or bottom of the battery. you need to open it back up and check the metal pieces to see if they are broken or bent.

Tom, all contacts are as they should be and are making contact as best as I can tell. Like I said, the fob works perfectly when I simply hold it together in my hand but the moment I click the plastic back together it doesn't do anything.

Check the buttons and the circuit board to see that it is seated properly within the fob itself. Like pushing it down. It might be too high and only works when you have it half apart. So it might be located up too far. Other than that, you might need a new fob.
