I have a 2000 dodge intrepid 2.7 starts and runs fine until it gets to normal operating temp then it spits and sputters even backfires then dies until it cools down and the process repeats whats fix?

I have a 2000 dodge intrepid runs fine until it reaches normal operating temp then starts sputtering and backfiring and dies till it cools down then the process repeats how do I fix this?

Did you ever overheat the engine ? Have you put a code reader on it yet ?
