how to align drive shafts when replacing a transfer case

Asked by workinman Mar 22, 2012 at 09:46 AM about the 2000 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Repair manuel says to mark drive propellers before removal for alignment purposes, but the drive shaft was already removed by someone else. Is this going to be an issue?

its not really an alignment thing, the drive shafts are balanced to be placed a certain way, if you put it in, and you get a shaking while your driving, pull it out again mark where you previously installed it and just spin it so its not installed that way, odds are the first time you put it in it will be unbalanced, but if you pull it, and give it 1 rotation youll have it to the way it should be.
