Okay well thank you for your advice.. Greatly apreaciated, Any way i went and had a remote start and alarm put on the durango yesterday and i was telling the guy in the process that my head lights were coming on and off while he was working and then we told him our problem with not having regular headlights so, he gladly took a look into why we didnt have head lights and discovered that behind all the plastic covers on the coloum there is a bunch of wires going to a harness it was a purple wire on the left side of turn signal switch it wasnt fully connected so we criped the metal connector and put it back on had a nice snug fit and wouldnt you know it FIXED the problem.... on my gosh am i so happy......so maybe someone else might find this to be usefull.... it fixed my headlight issues in my 2000 Durango....

I was having the same issue with my 99 SLT Durango. I checked the bulbs, fuses, relay, even cleaned the battery. That still didn't help. So I pulled the headlight switch out, went to AutoZone and asked if I could "use" a new switch to see if I needed one. The store guy came out with me when I plugged it in to find that I still had no low beams. We went back in to check the parts locator to ensure I had replaced the right relay. as we was looking a guy in line told me he had the same problem with his 2000. He told me the dealer told him that the purple wire was cut and installed for a fixed wheel not a tilt. And the constant up and down on it had busted the wire. I came home tore the covers off and what did I find.... A busted purple wire. (see photo) I took a female wire end and spliced in a small extention wire and problem solved. and by adding a small bit of wire should help prevent same problem in the future.
