Starter fuse blowing
Shut off my Durango for a few
minutes went to start it back up
and nothing. Replaced Starter
relay and 50amp square fuse in
main fuse panel under the hood.
And it blew the 50amp fuse
again. When ran cyllinoid wire
straight to battery it will start so I
hooked up a toggle switch
temporary. Any ideas why it
blowing 50amp starter fuse ?
Also after a couple days using
the switch now my ABS light is
on and speedometer not working
changed Rear ABS speed switch
and nothing changed. Also
reverse lights and A/C Blower not
working either! Are these
problems related to Starter fuse
blowing or separate issues? Any
ideas where to start next? Seems
like could be related!
No navigation system or screen. Stock radio. Only extra is what I think is for trailer brakes or something. It's a little black one t mounted under the dash
It could just be a coincidence and not related but The fuse panel in modern cars is an intricate matrix of individual circuits that are controlled by the ECU .. you have circuits that are always energized , circuits that are energized when the car is running and circuits that are on only for a short duration (AC/Cooling fans) The ECU sends info to the control relays and they handle the heavy current. My point is if you overheat an ECU controlled bus then other devices on that bus may be effected //// Donno why it took time to appear. Put a meter into the fuse slot for the blower or anything else not working (Key must be on) if you lost voltage the be sure all the other fuses are well seated then get real close to the fuse box and do the :smell test
Ok I just found where the starter cyllinoid wire was grounding out against the motor. So that explains the starter fuse blowing. Now just the speedometer,ABS LIGHT, blower, reverse lights, power windows, and rear wiper not working. I'ma check about ECU and other fuses in the am. Anything else you can think of?
