Tahoe has changed the engine block

Is this correct.... the Tahoe engine block was changed back to cast iron
because of melting issues with aluminum block. I think this is what a mechanic
told me. He said to buy a 2013 or higher because of this issue.
I was told this just in passing a while back when I was not looking so now my
memory chip can't remember for sure what he told me.
