do mgb's get block freeze out plug leaks often? Not due to freezing coolant or rusting out.

2 different block freeze out plugs developed leaks on a motor that was rebuilt at a shop fairly recently. The freeze out Plugs were new at that time. I replaced the plugs myself with ones ordered from Victoria British using Permatex #1 sealant on their edges & walloped them fairly hard with a big ball piene hammer until they were dented inward slightly. So far no leaks after a few hours of running.

I suspect the shop just did not install them correctly. Always run at least 50-50% anti-freeze though.

They either leak due to improper installation or when they rust out. Rusting out can be mostly eliminated by keeping the engine coolant fresh and never using just water.
