new battery dead

something is drawing on the battery and my mechanic can find NOTHING.
But, the key/ignition seems to have two off positions, both of which you can
remove the key. Could that be the problem?

Yes it could be, maybe it is an accessory that is live when left in that position. Otherwise you would want your mechanic to perform a parasitic test to find the circuit that has the draw, then find the source of the draw. Here is how to do that test... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRso1A0VScw
