i have a 2001 dodge stratus...the check engine light is on and the battery keeps going dead...i just replaced the battery because the auto parts store said it needed a new battery but its dies since..

Does the battery die when the vehicle is not in use? If so, there is a constant draw on the electrical system that needs to be identified. It's also a possibility your alternator is dead and not charging the battery. You can have your alternator tested for output as well.

I had the alternator tested, that's not it...they said that's fine...yes it dies when its not in use...

The next thing I would do is get it back to the auto parts store and find out what code is causing the CEL to come on. They will let you use an OBD-II scanner to retrieve the code(s).

ok, ill do that this weekend and post the codes on here. thanks so much for your help! I have no idea of whats wrong...ugh!
