How much to fix my engine?

I was left with my aunt car, who recently passed, and I driven the car no more
than 2500 miles or more before the engine starting acting up. It has some type
of clicking sound like there's metal stuck under the hood and clanking around.

Does it run smooth? Start without excessive crank time? Oil up to level and been changed in last 5000 miles? Decent power? I know lots of questions but tells me what might be going on. Could be something as simple as heat shield flapping = cheap fix or clicking could be fan cowling or valves.
Yeah everything else is fine all fluids are in, tires fine, fuses, & wires. Its just the engine. When I start up my car, it sounds like clanking/rattling in the engine
don't sound to good, the way you describe it sounds like a rod knock. Does the noise speed up apon exceleration?

That could be serious... a clanking/rattling could be piston slap - especially if it gets better, not as loud as it warms up. When all metal parts reach same operating temperature and the slap comes from the lack of oil in the engine at start up. This opinion is only valid if it has less than..oh..say.. 75,000 miles, More likely with high - 100,000+ miles. And even then does no harm. The engine will go a long time IF this is what you are hearing. My best guess, good luck
