how can i tell if my head gasket is going bad ..and would a cooling system vavle cause my car to lose water i replaced my thermostat

i just replaced my thermostat but i check my water resavior and it is losing water still also if my head gasket is bad wouldnt there be water in my oil ..there is no water in my oil

Also check between the head and the block.Sometimes you will see dampness on the engine block.Does your car have the garbage 2.7L in it?Those engines were known for head gaskets.

Chances are you probably have a leaking water pump, since they are internal on the 2.7LDOHC and both the 3.2L and 3.5L front cover removal will be necessary to inspect, 2.7 is chain driven, the water pump will fail 2 ways either internal seal will fail or the pump shaft will have play.
