The active grill shutters helps keep the engine at a good temperature. It opens to allow air in to cool it, or it closes to help maintain engine heat for the winter. It helps a little with feule efficiency as well. The car will overheat if the shutters and closed and you continue to drive it.just keep amd eye on the temperature gage.
