2.0 engine will not slow down to idle,must be placed into neutral to slow down or stop

Check for vacume for leaks,they will make you rev up like that.

I concur about the IAC (Idle Air Control). Before you rush out to replace this part, take it off, clean the carbon build-up out with brake cleaner or mild solvent & clean rag. I did this to my 2000 Dodge Neon and the idle is acting perfectly normal once again.
