2013 Explorer Base Electrical Issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2013 Exploer base, from time to time, when I turn the vehicle off, the mileage display screen turns a dull blue color and the mileage stays displayed in white text. I can get out of the car and lock it and everythng and it stays displayed. The only way to get it to turn off is to turn the vehicle on and off again. Anyone ever heard of something like this? I have a video of it on my phone that I show the people at my dealership but they say that there isn't anything they can do unless they "see' the problem themselves.......it happens when the car is turned off........My car is now back there for the third time to try to get this fixed, anybody have any clue?

nothing unusual with circuit boards, instrument control modual may have a leaking diode feeding from a capacitor .

Mine does the exact same thing (2013 Base). I took it back to the dealership and they said they couldn't find a problem. It is now past warranty and it seems to happen more often. I have found that if I just turn the ignition to acc and then back off it will go off as well.

Clearly there are issues with this model. I swear every time I turn the car off different things happen....

Mine too. Here is the fix: Don't open your door until the mileage shows up on your display. Once you open your door, the display will turn off.
