My 2013 ford edge will not start.

I had new carpet installed in my car.  Seats was removed and put back in.  As
log as I had my key fob in my purse it would start.  Now I have to put the key
fob in the console  for it to start.  What could have caused this?

Replace the battery in the FOB first before going any further.
