Never had my Edge gauge go above the mid-mark. For 2 1/2 years, never a problem driving in the Desert area. Two days in a row, the heat gauge went to 'red line' and turned off air cond., the level dropped like a rock. Message said 'coolant boiling'. Ford could not duplicate the problem. I say simple thermostat, as no leaks were found?
Cooling fan could be intermittent, cooling fan module, thermostat, dirt and other crap in the radiator core and a/c condenser core, low coolant level, bad pressure cap or air in the cooling system could all cause this.
My first guess was thermostat, but the fan is definitely a consideration. This is a leased 2013 Edge and the 'tech' could not duplicate problem. He drove it 8 miles..lol. Hard to find good help these days. Great suggestions and I appreciate he quick response! uncb
