2013 Ford Escape exhaust pipe heat sheild

Asked by JMH1963 Mar 03, 2014 at 07:14 AM about the 2013 Ford Escape SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is very cheaply made from snow/ice splashing onto it has torn away and hanging. Does any one see an issue with just taking off the section in the center of the vehicle and not replacing it. Due to the replacement will be the same poor quality piece.

came back from trip ,oil change place showed me heat shield hanging on cat converter.dealer from ford says not covered by warranty.Bull....went to b.b.b. in Toledo, ohio and and they went to bat for me.. This is a warranty repair for 36k miles.don't pay for this 369dollar repair out of your own money'..these shields are very undurable...don'tlet dealerships bully you..b.b.b. will settle the matter for you..ford will ,by law have to reimburse you or send you a check,as they did me.

My heat shield has falling off twice. The first time the dealer just tack it back up no paperwork generated, it happened again, this time they tried to lie saying they never tacked it up the first time. now they wont replace saying not covered under warranty. its bs they knew those heatshields wouldnt hold up when they made them in the first place. No more Fords for my family and this was my 3rd one. by far the worse 2013 Ford escape

$70 part at Ford dealer in MI. $215 total bill. Mine looks like something ate part of it.

We just noticed our heat shield coming off today. Looks just like above. Worried about fire. I think my Escape was pieced together on a Monday or a Friday afternoon. You know what they always say about that.
