2002 Dodge Dakota Headlight issues

Asked by GuruSYZHH May 16, 2019 at 08:06 AM about the 2002 Dodge Dakota SXT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2002 Dodge Dakota started having issues with the headlights. The high
beam low beam had a delay before changing... the headlights stayed on when
car was off and key removed... dash lights dimmed when headlight switch was
turned on.  I've replaced the headlight switch and the delay is still happening.
Sometimes the high beam dash light shows up and sometimes it doesn't until I
turn off the headlines and turn them on again.

Headlights: Most likely, it's a short in the module that controls the lights. they use transistors to do the switching and sometimes fail; shorting out..... Dimming dash lights: Most likely, your alternator is going bad. Take the car to a car parts store and have the battery, alternator, and charging system tested, probably free.
