Does the 2012 Toyota Corolla downshift automatically when going downhill?

Asked by lizzard13732 Nov 10, 2014 at 09:17 PM about the 2012 Toyota Corolla LE

Question type: General

I just bought a 2012 Toyota Corolla, and I'm thinking that automatic transmissions have
changed since my last car purchase! Do they automatically downshift when going
downhill? I notice this especially when I take my foot off the accelerator or brake.  It also
seems like it doesn't coast the same way my previous Toyota did (when driving on a flat
road and then taking foot off the accelerator). Any thoughts?

Did you ever figure anything out?? I am having EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE! I just went from a 2000 Corolla to a 2013 Corolla and this downshifting/not smoothly coasting is making me nuts.
