Subaru Forester 2012

Asked by Feb 11, 2017 at 09:46 AM about the 2012 Subaru Forester 2.5X Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Haven't had this car very long and we made a trip
in it of approximately 400 miles total.  On the way
home we passed another car and the check engine
light came on, cruise control started blinking  and
stopped working all together.  Otherwise it was
running fine.

The check engine light would turn off the cruse control. I don't think anything is wrong there. Just should have the vehicle scanned for any trouble codes, and repair accordingly.

If the code is a P0420 the catalytic converter may be in need of replacement. This seems to be a common issue. As my friend "Rowefast" suggested, get it scanned for trouble codes. If it indeed is the converter (just guessing here) and you don't have a huge number of miles on it the repair may be covered under the emissions warranty.

po 420 may also mean the O2 sensor after the cat is malfunctioning..
