Synthetic Oil for 2012 Subaru Legacy

Asked by Picky1 Apr 26, 2012 at 04:59 PM about the 2012 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just recently picked up a 2012 Subaru Legacy Premium with the 2.5 engine to replace my old Outback wagon.  This time around I was thinking of converting to Synthetic oil to help improve gas milage and to strech out oil change intervals.

I was planning on making the change after the first oil change which is scheduled at 3,000 miles. Any thoughts as to running synthetic in the 2.5?

Good choice running synthetic just make sure you use fully synthetic and not blended. On a new engine like that is prime time to do the change-over. Yes you may notice a small increase in gas mileage and you will notice faster warm-ups as well.
