Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to know how to disable the door ajar switch as it activates constantly in hot weather ans is affecting the lights. They flash intermittently and people think I am an angry driver.

This actually sounds like a BCM problem. You may have an issue with your BCM where it is shorting out in the heat. Have this checked out.

locate switch remove screw to get it loose short the two wires... but then your car will think your door is always closed

After a month of changing BCM/CTM... whatever you want to call it, i found out it is a bad actuator sensor. Actuator works for locking/unlocking but the door ajar light is on because of sensor. If i hold the door right, the light goes off. If i close it all the way, it stays on. So i have returned 3 CTM units that are probably good. My original one was definitely bad.

I tried to ask a question but when I click on ask question, after filling iot all out,...it sent me back to this page to give an answer? anyway, I'm trying to help my 80 years old neighbor with a problem on his 2002 Dakota sport, 2wd. sometimes his interior lamp will stay on after he gets out of the truck instead of timing out..the passenger door doesn't do this, it works normal. Anyway because of thet, we would like to check the door closed switch. We can't find it. I'm 71 and i'm used to a button in the door jam. I guess it's some type of proximity sensor, can someone tell me where to look for it.?? I am hoping the problem is that it's loose or a loose wire. The truck only has about 40k miles on it and is garage kept, looks almost new. Amazing for a 2002 model I think. Other than that, no other issues. I appreciate any advice.Thank you.!
