No Reverse

Asked by kidsbrokeme Nov 18, 2015 at 07:11 PM about the 2002 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,My bonehead daughter bought a 02 Dakota 4 dr 318 auto with no
reverse at a local auction.Yes no reverse and its now dads problem. The
forward gears seem to shift fine .In the garage with no noise outside the
truck I dont feel or hear it try at all to go in reverse. Its got 180 thousand
miles and the trans fluid looks like it has never been changed.I paint and fix
cars but have never worked on transmission.I have been looking on here
and have seen to check the low/reverse servo pressure and also the OD
accumulator spring.Does this sound right or what else can someone
suggest.Pictures, diagrams or web pages would be a good thing. Thanks to
all for your time

Time for a new transmission! You could try and drain eh fluid and change the filter and install some Lucas Transmission fix but there are no guarantees!

check if the neutral gear goes forward if it thats your problem is your gear shifter inside the transmission just remove the oil pan and you able to see the problem and fix it
