What's could be making this noise???

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon. When I get to
abou 3500RPM going around 50-60+
there's a metal hitting metal rattling noise
on the right side above or around the tire.
Happens mostly when I decelerate or when
I go into passing gear. What could it be???

Check the rotor brake shield, it might be loose/rusted off, and banging the rotor.

It also does it parked when rev up to 4000RPM


ah, so the shield is not the culprit. open the hood and look in that area, is it one of the pulleys making the noise that is run off the serpentine belt?

I don't thinks that's it either, replaced it last winter and it was making the noise before then


Hard to diagnose a noise over the internet as your finding out. Have a friend or mechanic listen for you.
