2012 Infinit G7 Convertible recurring issue
Recurring issue when closing the top - it will get to the point of just about to latch and then stop and give the error that "trunk is open", which sure enough, it is - sticking up in the air. I have to turn the engine off. Restart the car, cycle the top down, then cycle it to close again and it will close. Sometimes I only have to do this process to get it closed once, sometimes 2-3 times. New issue occurred this last week - car was in the garage with the top down. I started the car, closed the top without issue on the first try, then ran to an appointment. Came out of the appointment and started the car, once the car was put in gear and moving, there was a horrible alarm with the error "top in motion" on the dash. The top was fully closed! Now I have had this car at the Infiniti dealer at least 4 times and each time they "relearned" the top and sent me on my merry way. When this last issue happened I took it in and they claimed to find an issue with the control assembly unit to the tune of $3200 (my warranty covered). They replaced that and when I picked it up yesterday, I operated the top up and down in front of them and it worked just fine. Today I ran an errand with the top down - as I arrived back home, the dealership just happened to call me to check on the car - I told him I was just about to put the top up and perfect time to call....cuz guess what?! While he was on the phone the top screwed up again, just as before - stopped short of latching with the trunk stuck up in the air. So it is back to the dealership tomorrow...AGAIN! Also a side note - battery has died twice in 4 months - no rhyme or reason - had it tested and both times was told there was nothing wrong with the battery. Anybody heard of these issued before??
