2012 Equinox Oil Leak

Oil leaked out of car. When I refilled it and started the car
you could see where the oil was coming from when I
opened the hood. The black round part in the image just
behind the dipstick had oil coming out the side of it. What
is this part? Does anyone know?

That is your oil filter housing. Usually when they leak it's a pinched gasket. It may also have a crack in it. If I remember correctly it's a 24mm socket to remove. There will be a rubber seal at the base of the threads. If its torn you'll need a replacement filter (they come with a new gasket). If it's a broken housing you'll be able to pick one up from your local chev dealer. Should be a cheap fix either way.
