are you sure you didn't just put in single element bulb instead of a double fllament? I have also had to replace the sockets on mine for the same malfunction.

try swaping the 1st and second sockets (from the top) should be a three pin

swapped the sockets and the same problem. the tail lights wont light up at all

It could be a fuse. Check all your fuses in your fuse box. One might be blown.

Same here, I checked all fuses, my dash lights stopped working last week, now tail lights. I think it's the switch?
