2012 Camry key fobs not working

I would be inclined to check the Owner's Manual to see if there are batteries in those Fobs...the number for the battery.....buy a battery...install...and see if that makes a difference. Always do the easiest and cheapest thing first.

Looks like they have a CR2016 battery, I'll try replacing one and see if that's it. How long do the batteries typically last?

Any battery will have a life span depending on usage and shelf life. Let us know what happens with the new battery installation.

I replaced the battery on my spare key, and it worked fine once I got back to my car. After I drove home, I then tried my main key (battery not replaced) and it worked on the first try as well. It's very odd, but I had no issues today. I'm going to see if the main set fails again and replace its battery if it stops working again.

I have had the same exact issue. Both primary and spare key not working. Seems to happen only during coldest part of the day. Quick fix is annotated in the manual. Seems strange though that both keys would stop working at the same time. Is there another issue perhaps?

My 2013 Toyota Camry has the same issue. I don't think it's the battery in the key fob (neither key fob works) because when the outside temp reaches 50 degrees, they both work fine. I'm fine with unlocking the car the old fashioned way, but when I am going to my car in a dark parking lot, I would rather not have to take the time to manually unlock the driver's door, then unlock the passenger doors from inside. Seems like a safety issue.

I have the same issue with our 2013 Camry. Both key fobs stopped working about the same time. The main one was intermittent for a while, but eventually stopped altogether. I changed the battery in the spare key fob first, but it did not help at all. Is there another issue like the car receiver that's having problems?

If my wife tried to drive my Camry 2017 sometime the key didn't work with her and the same key I have it . It's work with me fine all the time

I finally changed both remote batteries at the same time and it works fine now. Hope this helps someone.

Who knows how to reprogrammed a Camry Altise remote please so I don't have to buy a third one or pay someone to lie to me. I know we can do it ourselves if given the steps. It is a 2011. Thanks

Radio frequence interference can cause remotes to fail. This can be caused by radio transmitters and medical diathermy devices. Even parking near some power sources and some lights create the problem.These frequencies are public domain and are therefore not usually monitored. The can also stop a car from starting as the key is blocked.

So get this... Key fob stopped working, and could not figure out why. Did basic troubleshooting top to bottom to no avail. Replace the battery, no change. Then remembered that I had plugged a battery charger into the cigarette lighter port (the one underneath the environmental controls and radio). As soon as I unplugged the 12 volt cigarette lighter power source, the key fob started working again! And when I plugged it back into the cigarette lighter, it stopped working. I'm able to reproduce this with 100% accuracy and reliability every single time. Another oddity is that if I take that same cigarette lighter power plug and put it into the center console port (the one between the front two seats), it has absolutely no effect whatsoever... And key fobs function correctly whether it's plugged in or not. No idea why it does this, but we know for sure that this was the issue. Any technically-minded people have any thoughts? Anyone, anyone, Bueller... ???

I upgraded my head unit and my key fob has been intermittent. I think it's similar to 12v cigarette lighter. The car battery doesn't have enough juice ?

After an oil change the maintenance required light was reset. Suddenly my key fobs stopped working. After trying several troubleshooting techniques, and even though the maintenance light was off, I took the steps to reset the maintenance required light. SUCCSESS! 2012 Camry.
