my engine light is on and I checked to see the code. It came up as p0301 what does this mean.

the car has been sluggish lately and I just put it off to the heat we have been experiencing... until I saw the light come on.  I do not want to ignore any possible damage to the car.

The device that you used to scan the code comes with a manual that lists the codes and what they mean.
