Why won't my car start when I turn the key

Battery could be dead or starter needs to be replaced. Also with a vehicle that year, there could be other stuff wrong with it. When you turn the key what happens? Light flickers, does it make noise?

New battery new starter turn ignition and dash lights flicker shorted starter out to turn and it turned over put would not crank
