Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 07 Dodge charger 2.7 is shaking and smoke is
coming out of the tail pipe. When I drive it the
smoke clears but the engine still shakes and it
stalls on take off now loses power climbing hills. I
changed the coil packs and plugs, got a brand new
egr valve and seal, and an oil change. The
mechanic said I should have one fuel filter but I
have 2: one under the hood and the other in the
original spot. Could this be the problem? Please
help

What color is the smoke? Blue is oil burning, white billowing cloud like water vapor is coolant (head gasket or intake manifold gasket), black is too much fuel. HTH. -Jim

The smoke is white. What would be the best method to resolve the problem?

Sounds like a head gasket or intake manifold gasket. Have the cooling system pressure tested and tested for exhaust gases in the coolant. An engine compression test should be done as well. HTH. -Jim

Will a gasket repair in a can suffice til I can get it repaired?

The ONLY one I'll recommend is a product called Blue Devil. One of our customers uses it from time to time and it does work. BUT you have to follow the directions on the bottle exactly to the letter!! HTH. -Jim
