what has happened is either your coolant system is contaminated or you have casting sand plugged in the heater core...with the engine cold open the radiator cap and look at the coolant and see if there is a film that has coated the inside walls of the radiator if there is than the system is contaminated the radiator, heater core will need to be flushed and possible replaced if the heater core does not come back

Please fill out a complaint with http://www.safercar.gov/ or contact (888) 327-4236 and they will help you file a complaint to the manufacturer.

I have a 2012 Avenger and purchased it new and I am also having the same issue hot air on driver side /cool air on passenger side.I had it at the dealership and they got me for $128.00 for a flush and it is still doing the same thing.Pricing for a heater core runs us any where from $1000.00 to $1300. I also contacted Chrysler Canada and they gave me the same run around.Seriously Chrysler how about stepping up and acknowledge that this is actually a manufacturing issue on your behalf and put it on a recall list .I will never purchase another Chrysler product again .
