Question type: Maintenance & Repair

about 3 months ago when it was cold out it would take a very long time for it to heat up and whenever I would break on the car it would get cold again and the temp would go down. Now the temp goes al the way up but there is no antifreeze spuming out from the reservoir. the fan is working fine just the amount of antifreeze has doubled around the thermostat housing

You have the 2.7l v6 which has the internal water pump..the only way u can really tell it’s going out is small amounts of antifreeze will drip from the weep hole on the bottom side of the motor by the thermostat..which is on the radiator side of the engine..passenger side by the belts and it is a pain to replace..three bolts and one of which is removed and replaced blind..u can not see it..lol..3 hours to change it out cuz of this bolt! Have u had any problems with the oil level being low and no drips apparent? Or even suddenly having too much oil? In this case it would be the water pump and timing chain kit which is all replaced together..cam sprockets..water pump..oil pump..three tensioner..three timing chains..gaskets..as well as additional parts just to do the job include the oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets and possibly the timing cover gasket as well..depends on the kit you get.. Sounds like a nightmare and will cost about $900-$1200 to replace but it will be running at its top after this is all replaced..it would cost more on a regular setup motor to replace each thing and charged for each thing so essentially it’s no different then the regular old setup...these motors will last forever as long as they are maintained as scheduled..these cars are definitely worth it
