2005 Dodge stratus battery issues

My husband was driving our 2005 Dodge Stratus
when it stopped shifting and the battery light came
on. He got a couple more miles and it died. We
checked the alternator it's fine. We have had to
jump the car quit a bit from it sitting and us doing
work on it. Don't know if it might be the battery or if
it's something worse??

Did you ever fix the problem because i have one tje same year doing the same exacr things
