What steps do i take to get to my timing belt on 2005 dodge
neon sxt and see if it needs to be replaced and how to on
replacing it

Check the manual for the service life on your engine's timing belt. If your mileage is at or exceeds the service life for your belt, you can schedule to have it replaced. There is no way to access the belt without opening up the engine, and if you go to that trouble you may as well just replace it. A mechanic can also determine if you may have any potential signs of a failing timing chain, especially with trouble codes for random multiple misfires or knock sensor.

Take it to a mechanic, you obviously don't have the expertise to deal with this.

If your mechanically inclined,there are videos that will guide you step by step on you tube,idk about a Dodge neon but they have quite a few on Honda Civic watch a couple and see how you feel about doing it,good luck
